HKEdCity Resources Depository - Resources Highlight (1) Quality School-based Practices by Language Learning Support Section

To provide teachers with different language teaching strategies, Language Learning Support Section has jointly developed with teachers a variety of learning and teaching resources and strategies for schools with different contexts.

75 resources will be launched in this phase. These resources have been tried out in the classroom and are suitable for all schools and teachers . The resources are now available in HKEdCity Resources Depository. With the help of these quality school-based practices, teachers can gain more ideas to develop tailor-made school-based practices for the schools.

Teachers who want to devise school-based materials for their students may consider seeking professional advice from Language Learning Support Section whose officers will also help with writing school-based curricula and subject plans; exploring different learning and teaching strategies; and using assessment to improve learning and teaching. For information about the support services, please go to the homepage of Language Learning Support Section.

These quality school-based practices are based on eight different areas, including Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Holistic Planning, Speaking, Assessment, Learner Diversity and New Senior Secondary. Each school-based practice includes a lot of valuable resources such as lessons plans, learning activities, worksheets and teaching materials for classroom use. Teachers could adapt the materials to suit the needs of the students.

To facilitate teachers in searching for appropriate resources, these resources are located in the HKEdCity Resources Depository and are tagged according to the English Curriculum Guide. Teachers could also discover different resources according to Key Learning Area. .

Remarks: To assist HKEdCity to send appropriate subject news and resources for teachers as resources, please update the information in the teachers’ account.

1. Update the information of Teachers’ Account

1.1	Login the HKEdcity website with teachers' account (e.g. tr-XXX)

1.2	Click iDesk tab for the Setting function

1.3 Please fill in the personal information and a frequently used email address. Check the box Re-direct all HKEdCity emails to the above mailbox for easy communication.

1.4 To provide you with the updated news and appropriate teaching resources, please update the Major Teaching Subjects and Major Concerned Area.

1.5 Click My Services tab to check all registered services. Teachers can sign up to be a member of the subject iWorld to receive latest information and resources.

2.Searching in Resources Depository

2.1 Click Resources Depository tab to enter the depository

2.	Type the keyword for the resources (e.g. Language Learning Support Section)

3.	You can confine the search results by choosing specific Key Learning Area (e.g. English Language Education), subject (e.g. English Language Education) and level (e.g. P.4-6).

4.	You can also confine the search results by choosing specific resources type (e.g. Worksheets) and the digital format (e.g. Documents). Then click Search.

5.	Click the title (e.g. Improving writing through Process Writing) for the resources. The resources will be shown as above.

3. Enriching the resources

We welcome you to evaluate the resources in Resources Depository. You can add in keywords to increase the chances for being searched. You can also suggest some resources that should be enriched in the Resources Depository. Details are as follow:

a. Add keyword
Login with teachers’ account, click add

to add keyword to the resources.

b. Suggest for enrichment
Regarding the untagged resources, if you find any suitable teaching resources that should be tagged, please login with teachers’ account, click suggest for enrichment , we will then further arrange it in the Resources Depository.

4. Searching with HKEdCity Search

1.	Teachers can also use HKEdCity Search for the resources. Type the keyword for searching (e.g. Language Learning Support Section).

All the related resources in HKEdcity will be listed on the left while the related resources from other educational websites will be listed on the right.

3.	Teachers are also encouraged to share some educational websites with others by clicking Share Educational Websites.

If teachers are interested in sharing educational resources, please attach the relevant files and website and send the email to resources@hkedcity.net . Please state the name, telephone number, target user, level, subject (Key learning area and subject), keyword, author, affiliating school or organization in the email. Please put “Resources Sharing” as the email title. Upon receiving the email, our officer will contact teachers to follow up.

Teachers can go to Forum to express your views about the use of the resources.
