At the beginning, we see Lex Luthor hanging upside down. A man is going to shoot him.

Next, we go back three years. Lex is taking his friend, Amanda, to a disco called "Zero Consequences".

Amanda is going to marry Jude Royce but she sees him with other women.

Amanda runs away. Jude fights Lex. His bodyguard stops the fight but Jude cuts Lex with knife. The bodyguard shoots Jude, who dies.

We go back to today. Clark's class has an assignment. Each student must interview someone. Chloe must interview Clark.

Chloe asks Clark's parents about his adoption. Later, she finds out the adoption was unusual. Clark doesn't like her looking into his life.

Lana is going to open her coffee shop (see Smallville 13). Jude Royce comes in, talking about Lex!

Lex meets the bodyguard from "Zero Consequences". He says he saw Jude everywhere.

Lex tells Clark and Lana that Jude Royce is dead. However, the contractor at the coffee shop is attacked. They find a body part from the bodyguard in a box!

We learn that the dirty cop, Sam Phelan (see Smallville 9), helped Lex cover up the shooting of Jude Royce.

All the cows at the Kent farm have died. They were poisoned by chemicals from Lex's factory. Jonathan Kent blames Lex but Jude Royce really did it.

Jude puts Lex in his truck and takes him back to the Zero Consequences disco.

Chloe says "Sorry" to Clark. Then she helps him find Lex. At the disco, Jude is going to shoot Lex. Instead, the contractor shoots Jude! The contractor is really Amanda's brother. He says that Amanda killed herself.

Jude was really a man that looked like him. Amanda's brother wants to kill Lex himself.

Lex tells him the true story. Amanda shot Jude. Lex covered it up to help her. The brother doesn't believe him.

Clark comes in to save Lex but Lex doesn't know. Clark moved too quickly.

The coffee shop opens successfully. Lana is happy.

At the end, Chloe must choose to save or delete the computer file on Clark's adoption. She saves it!
