Our World As Asia's World City, Hong Kong welcomes guests from all over the world, including Argentina.
Guille Bril comes from Rosario, the second biggest city in Argentina. He is studying at St. Marks School on Hong Kong Island through AFS Intercultural Exchanges this year. He also stays with a local Hong Kong family. Here are his thoughts on insects, life in Hong Kong and Argentina.

Insects

I don't mind insects but would rather not touch them. My house has a garden at the back. We get a lot of ants. I often go camping with my friends. Once, we canoed to an island near my hometown and camped there. There were thousands of mosquitoes. I really got bitten and was itching for days. There were wild pigs which ate our food when we were sleeping! I also go camping in forests. We have to watch out for bee hives.

School Life

I have to wear a school uniform in Hong Kong. That's a big change for me. In Argentina, I can wear jeans and a T-shirt to school. A lot of boys wear earrings and dye their hair too. I guess that's not allowed here! My school here has a larger variety of subjects though. I can't study drama or home economics in Argentina but can at St. Marks School. Learning about businesses is popular in both countries. Last year, I studied Marketing, Accounting and Economics at home.

Friends

I've only been in Hong Kong for a few weeks and am starting to make friends. All the students in

my school are polite and friendly. At home, I hang out with my friends all summer. We go to each other's homes, play music and play in our pools. It's common for people to have small swimming polls in their gardens. We also go camping or go to shopping malls if it rains.
