Descriptive Writing

Descriptive writing is writing that describes a particular person, place or event in great detail. It uses a lot of flowery adjectives and adverbs to describe what is going on or how something appears.

Let’s have a look of the below picture, what can you say about the people in the picture?

Scene 1-50% off

How do you describe the man sitting on the picture? shock , angry , startled , fat
How do you describe the lady holding the scissors? wicked , tricky , blonde , greedy

You may add on some more ADJECTIVES to describe them!


Next, what is the people DOING in the scene?

The lady should be the hair stylist.
The
blonde lady holding scissors should be the hair stylist.
The
blonde lady with green t-shirt, who is holding the scissors and cutting hair for the man, should be the hair stylist.

How about the man? Let’s use ADJECTIVES and VERBS to describe him.

    The lady in apron is laughing happily. She is the hairdresser.
    The man sitting on the chair is sad.

    The hairdresser cut the man’s hair. However, she only cut half of his hair. That is why the man is in shock.
