Hong Kong IT in Education Symposium 2008 has been held from 2-3 May 2008 at Pui Ching Middle School.

The English Language Focus Group of IT in Education Section (EDB) joined the parallel session on 2 May 2008 in presenting how theBlog can assist language learning with experience sharing on English teaching with blog in both Primary and Secondary schools.

The Edublogs Website is the largest education community on the internet. It contains lots and lots of edublogs. On the main page, it provides links that explain how to use blogs for learning and teaching as well as links that explain blogsphere terminology.

“English Weblog – English at Your Fingertips” is the weblog administered by Mr. Simon Boldy, the NET of CCC Kei Wa Primary School (Kowloon Tong).

Simon started his blog in April, 2007. He posts articles on his blog regularly and invites students and teachers alike to read them and comment on them. Simon also gives responses to the comments at times. By doing so, he creates a genuine situation for communicating in English and a learning community in the school where every one can play his part in sharing, learning and teaching.

Simon’s easy-going personality has made him very popular among the pupils. When he writes, he chooses the topics that can provoke a lot of discussion, and he is also thoughtful enough to set quite a number of questions in each article to provoke thinking. No wonder all his posts attract a lot of readers and commentators; and his blog enjoys a high hit rate.
